We at Bayard Acres Labs strive to produce quality, well socialized puppies that conform well to the breed standard, are well socialized in a variety of ways, are versitale -well suited to the home or field, and are from quality, health tested parents to help ensure a long healthy life. We’ve received a lot of great feedback over the years, and our pups have excelled in dock jumping competitions, obedience, duck/upland hunting, shed hunting, and just all around good family pets. Read on for our history and more information about our breeding program.

Bayard Acres Labs was established in 2011 when we added Faith and Zupplin to our family hobby farm -4 acres off of Bayard Avenue in Pella Iowa. Me and my little sister were 12 and 10 at the time and had always wanted labs. We took them to obedience classes, and entered them in 4-H obedience and agility competitions. In 2014, after the dogs passed the OFA health tests recommended by the AKC we had our first litter. I then got involved with our local hunt club and trained Zupplin as a hunting dog. He received his SR title with NAHRA, and JH title with AKC, and we started a yearly thanksgiving game farm trip with some relatives. In 2015, after much research, we added Tessa to our breeding program. Tessa’s sire was an international show champion, and her dam was a guide on a game farm as well as a great family dog. Tessa brings the traditional stocky Labrador look, calm, gentle personality, and natural retrieve drive we were looking for. She passed her health requirements, and some SR and JH hunt tests as well. We’ve received much positive feedback from owners of her puppies, and we’ve kept her daughter Jazzy, and plan to keep one more female from her before she retires in 2022.Back in 2017 I got married and took my dogs Zupplin and Tessa to Knoxville Iowa. Faith (my sisters dog) is retired and still roams free on my parents property.Bayard Acres Labs now operates on our 3 acre homestead in Knoxville surrounded by our children, a small herd of milk goats, and a few barn cats. It’s been a great location as we’re only a couple minutes from Iowa’s largest Lake. Lake Red Rock. And the dogs enjoy frequent trips to there in the summer to swim, play, and practice their water retrieves with the kids. Our dogs and puppies receive plenty of socializing each day from our children, and from their many cousins ranging in age from infants to teenagers. We frequent have them over for “puppy socializing parties.”We truly enjoy raising this breed, and how great they are with kids and other animals.Feel free to reach out to us for more information, we do not respond to most messages on Sunday, that is our day to worship God, we try to respond quickly through the week. For puppy updates please go follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram. We are fairly active they’re putting up pictures and videos of both the puppies and our own dogs. Thanks for visiting!
